The Usopp and Buggy parallels are still strong after today's episode. I enjoyed the manga chapter, and it was a great episode. I forgot about the impact of the bounties that the Cross Guild have posted, and the reasons why they were posted. Oda mining all the depths. Loved seeing the Revs too. I liked this side journey, although I know a lot of people complained about being taken away from Egghead. Strap yerselves in!

How have I never stopped to really look at the Revolutionary Army symbol until this episode?

Their symbol looks like a dragon seen head on. The three pronged or horned top directly reminds me of the Hoof of the Flying Dragon, symbol of the World Nobles.

Why did Dragon choose that as his symbol? Is the idea that he and his organization are the true dragons? Why would he choose symbology so close to that of his sworn enemies - other than the strange coincidence of his name?

Someday we're going to see how/why Dragon left the Marines (my bet is it has something to do with God Valley), and I am going to be on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I believe it is the right moment to mention once again how different Shanks and Luffy actually are when it comes to their loved ones leaving. Shanks respects Buggy's "decision" to leave him, but it is an impulsive. emotion-driven decision that could have been avoided if Shanks had reached out to him again instead of letting his hand be slapped once. He doesn't run after him. Luffy, on the other hand, just knows when someone needs help. And of course he wants them to ask for it (Nami, for example, who ressembles a lot of Buggy's traits personality btw) when needed, but Buggy is too proud. Luffy would have been way more pushy, the way he was with Sanji when he refused to be helped. He ran after him. Luffy offers his hand over and over and over again before losing somebody he loves. Shanks lives with the consequences of only reaching out once.

THEY ADDED BUGGY SLAPPING SHANKS’ HAND AWAY…THEIR HANDS TOUCHED (mind immediately focused on that brief close contact)

The slow walk Shanks did towards Buggy just to hold out his hand and ask Buggy for his hand in marriage to come with him…it was such a close and personal plea. It didn’t just feel like a Captain trying to recruit a member, it felt like he was asking Buggy to run away with him and share their lives together.

Buggy was meant to take his hand and come away with him, but he refused to accept such a gentle touch…The last touch they had was that bitter slap.

We definitely need to see a scene in the future of Buggy actually taking Shanks’ hand…

as we all know, the one piece anime is notorious for whitewashing its characters. i think it's incredibly important to keep using ahiru's original color scheme in fan content, because she was originally a person of color and it's vital that we as a fandom do not succumb to toei's attempt at erasing other races and ethnicities.

to all op artists, please draw fanart for ahiru and please use her original color scheme!!! don't let the new one replace the original one!!!

2. I didn't even realise he's Haku from Spirited Away and Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicle before looking up his Wikipedia article (I mean it makes sense, he isn't a teenager anymore and he's playing an adult character, of course he sounds different)

3. I can't believe they managed to find someone to play Sabo whose given name is literally written like the word "freedom" (自由), that's almost too on the nose lmao
